Quick search

This page explains how the Lion1906's search engine works.

As soon as you land on Lion1906, you can search the site using the Search box in the top-right corner. The search is powered by Google.
Here are a few explanations:

  • The search engine searches the site and also the database of metropolitan French towns.
  • One can also search by postal code or INSEE code - note that google will only accept the INSEE 5-digit numbering variant.
  • Here are a few tips to help you search more effectively:
You may search towns in metropolitan France only. French overseas departements and territories known in French as DOM-TOM and other countries are not covered.
  • Do not use hyphens "-" in hyphenated town names.
  • Do not use abbreviations such as "st" instead of "Saint", "Ste" instead of "Sainte', "/" instead of "sur" or "ss" instead of "sous". Write the town name in full. Because the word "saint" is found in over 1,500 towns, it's simply not taken into account.
  • Generic characters such as "*", "?", "%" or "_" are not supported.
