This page explains how the Lion1906's search engine works.
As soon as you land on Lion1906, you can search the site using the Search box in the top-right corner. The search is powered by Google.
Here are a few explanations:
The search engine searches the site and also the database of metropolitan French towns.
- One can also search by postal code or INSEE code - note that google will only accept the INSEE 5-digit numbering variant.
- Here are a few tips to help you search more effectively:
You may search towns in metropolitan France only. French overseas departements and territories known in French as DOM-TOM and other countries are not covered.
Do not use hyphens "-" in hyphenated town names.
Do not use abbreviations such as "st" instead of "Saint", "Ste" instead of "Sainte', "/" instead of "sur" or "ss" instead of "sous". Write the town name in full. Because the word "saint" is found in over 1,500 towns, it's simply not taken into account.
Generic characters such as "*", "?", "%" or "_" are not supported.
